Controllers and Error Messages
You will find information about the individual error messages in the controller operating instructions: Instructions
Have an electrician measure the current consumption and voltage (with heating switched-on) at the heating elements and compare these measurements with the details on the kiln type plate.
If the voltage is too low, contact your electrical provider.
If the current is too low, the heating elements are probably worn out or broken. Further checks may be required. Contact a dealer in your area.
This error code indicates that the thermocouple is faulty. Contact a dealer in your area.
Installation and disposal
Observe the information in the instructions for your kiln.
When installing the kiln, observe the following safety precautions:
• Install the kiln in a dry room. The room should have a temperature of between 5 °C and 40 °C and should not exceed 80 % relative humidity.
• The floor must be level. The kiln must be placed on a non-flammable surface (fire safety class A DIN 4102 – example: concrete, ceramic tiles, glass, aluminum or steel)
• The max. load of the floor must be adequate for the kiln plus accessories
Installation location
• The operator is responsible for ensuring adequate ventilation at the installation site by means of appropriate exhaust extraction and fresh-air systems.
• If the charge emits gases or vapors, ensure adequate ventilation at the installation site and/or a suitable exhaust gas venting system. The customer must provide a suitable extractor for combustion exhaust gases.
• Make sure that the heat radiated by the kiln is removed (if in doubt, consult a ventilation engineer).
• Flammable materials must be kept at least 1 m from the sides and 1 m from the top of the kiln. In some cases, the distance must be larger due to local conditions.
• Protect the kiln against weather conditions and aggressive atmospheres. Nabertherm accepts no liability or warranty claims for any corrosion damage as a result of installation in a wet room or similar.
• The kiln and switchgear are not designed to be used outdoors.
Observe the detailed information in the instructions for your kiln.
Depending on the charge, your kiln may emit harmful gases or vapors during the firing. It is therefore necessary to discharge the escaping exhaust gases into the open air in a suitable manner. We recommend that you connect an exhaust pipe to the kiln to remove the exhaust gases. An 80-mm diameter zinc-plated steel pipe or stainless steel pipe is suitable for this purpose. The pipe must be installed in a continuously rising manner. Sufficient room ventilation is necessary to ensure that fresh air is mixed with the exhaust gases.
A maximum exhaust gas temperature of approx. 200 °C can be assumed for the exhaust system. There is a risk of burning at the bypass connection and the piping. The area in the wall where the pipe passes through must be made from heatproof material. We recommend that a local ventilation company dimensions the exhaust gas piping.
Since 1981, our ceramic kilns do not contain substances that must be declared as hazardous waste. However, during operation, residues of process substances may accumulate in the kiln insulation, which potentially could be hazardous to health and the environment.
• Electronic components: removal and disposal as electronic waste
• Insulation: removal and disposal as hazardous waste (see Servicing, Cleaning, and Maintenance – Handling Ceramic Fiber Material in the kiln instruction manual)
• Housing: disposal as scrap metal
Please contact the responsible waste management companies regarding disposal of the aforementioned material.
Repair and Maintenance
Cracks in the insulation are possible and normal after just a short time but these have no effect whatsoever on the kiln functions. Read the relevant information in the kiln instructions.
Please send clear photos of the entire interior and door insulation, including the model and serial number to our service department (service@nabertherm.de). If your kiln is from the Arts & Crafts range, contact your dealer.
Once we have determined the repair costs, we will send you a quote. You will find the model and serial number on the type plate on the side of your kiln.
Nabertherm GmbH provides repair services exclusively for kilns manufactured by Nabertherm. We do not repair kilns from other manufacturers.
